Department of Information Technology has set up School of Software Technology to identify the gaps in the curriculum and establish facilities that provides students an opportunity to learn software technologies which may not be covered or may be covered inadequately in the curriculum. School of software technology presently conducts courses on Java Technology and Linux with Kernel Programming.

Java Technology Course

Java is platform independent, secure, multi-threaded, robust and dynamic programming language. Due to its features, Java has gained popularity in desktop application, Server-side applications, Enterprise applications as well as in embedded and mobile devices application. As a result, from Laptop to data centers, game consoles to scientific super computers, cell phones to the internet, Java is everywhere. Due to its tremendous popularity, there is wide spread demand of technocrats skilled in Java Technology in the industries.

The course is of 80 Hrs duration and run by reputed training provider “DUCAT”. The course contents include advanced topics of JAVA and a project work in Java language. The major topics include  AWT tool kit, swing, multi-threaded programming, networking, J2EE, JDBC, Servlet, JSP, Struts, Hibernate, Spring, Eclipse IDE etc. Each part is adequately covered with hands-on exercises.

DUCAT issues certification on completion of the course. The students also have the option to appear in Oracle Certification exams and become Oracle Certified Java Programmer.

Linux and Kernel programming course

The Linux open source operating system, is a freely distributable, cross-platform operating system based on Unix.  This is installed on PCs, laptops, note books, mobile and tablet devices, video game consoles, servers, supercomputers and more.  There are many variants of Linux like  Android, Chrome, WebOS, Ubuntu, Red hat etc which are being used in mobile, embedded devices and desktops. Due to this there is good demand of Linux professional in the industry. Since Linux does not form a part of the university curriculum, this course is run inside the college campus for the benefits of the college.

The course is of 60 Hrs duration and has been designed to include advanced concepts such as Kernel Programming. The course is conducted by RCPL and participants get certificates both from RCPL and Red hat.

The course greatly enhances the knowledge spectrum of the students and their employability.

India’s First Industrial Robot Training Centre at AKGEC, Ghaziabad   AKGEC jointly with KUKA Robotics (India) has set up India’s first Industrial Robotics Training Centre for Educational Institutions at AKGEC, Ghaziabad. The centre was inaugurated on 5th May, 2011 and operational since then The Centre aims to train young engineering graduates and diploma students of all engineering disciplines up to the Industry expectations and foster research in applied robotics field. The primary objective of the centre is to encourage young professionals to take up this cross disciplinary field as a career of their choice and acquaint them with latest technological developments in the field of Industrial Robotics. Centre Highlights The AKGEC-KUKA Training Centre is setup to produce highly skilled technical manpower in the field of Industrial Robotics. The centre offers Basic, Advance and Expert level of training comprises of 80 Hrs duration respectively. The centre has highly skilled Faculty/Engineers duly trained and certified by KUKA Roboter GmbH, Germany to conduct these training programs at the centre.
